William G. Bennett, age 79, of Duncansville, died unexpectedly on Sunday evening, March 14, 2021, at UPMC Altoona. He was born March 13, 1942 in Ridgeway, a son of the late George W. and Katherine E. (Morgan) Bennett. He married the former Norma J. Diehl on Apr. 24, 1965 at Bethany Lutheran Church, Altoona.
He is survived by his wife, Norma; two sons: William H. Bennett (Teresa) of Hollidaysburg and Christopher K. Bennett, Sr. (Cindy) of Duncansville; 7 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.
He was the last survivor of 5 siblings. He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Natisha.
Bill was a 1960 graduate of Altoona High School Vo-Tech. He was in the Army Reserves for 7 years. He retired from Conrail in 2000, where he worked as a Supervisor.
He was a member of Puzzletown Road Bible Church and a life member of Geeseytown Fire Department. Bill enjoyed working on small engines and mowers, fixing things around the house, going on walks and out to eat, talking with friends about the railroad, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 3-5pm on Friday, March 19, 2021 at Puzzletown Road Bible Church, immediately followed by a funeral service at 5pm, officiated by Pastor Jon Gross. Interment will take place at New Canoe Creek Cemetery.
