For thy sweet love remembered, we announce the passing of Marguerite R. Albarano, 85, Altoona, on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at Hilltop Healthcare and Rehab Center. She was born July 23, 1940 in Altoona, daughter of the late John and Eva (DiAntonio) Ruggery. She married Raymond A. Albarano on October 3, 1964. He preceded her in death on December 14, 2005.
Surviving is a son, Michael R. Albarano (Pamela) of Ardmore; a daughter, Chessa VanOrmer (Jim) of Altoona; 7 grandchildren: Luke, Morgan, Lilly, Claire, and Grace Albarano, Zoey VanOrmer, and Jim VanOrmer, Jr.; two siblings: Regina Pagliara of Altoona and Victor Ruggery of State College; and many special nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by five brothers, Robert, Raymond, Joseph, Donald, and J. Anthony Ruggery.
Marguerite was a 1958 graduate of Altoona High School. At the age of 60, she attended the Pennsylvania State University, where she maintained a perfect 4.0 in her declared major, English, was inducted into the academic Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society, and had one of her short stories selected and published in the Penn State Literary Magazine.
She retired from the Social Security Administration. She was the recipient of many outstanding achievement awards throughout her work history.
Marguerite enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, music, and writing short stories.
A memorial service will be held at 1pm on Friday, March 6, 2026 at Juniata Trinity Lutheran Church, 408 N. 6th St., Altoona, officiated by Pastor Elizabeth Hess. Interment will take place at St. Aloysius Cemetery, Cresson.
