Louis A. Notaro, age 89, of Duncansville, died unexpectedly Monday morning, January 20, 2020, at UPMC Altoona. He was born December 5, 1930 in Altoona, a son of the late Lorenzo and Elizabeth (Natale) Notaro. He married Doris Ann Tampt on Aug. 2, 1954. She preceded him in death on March 22, 2018.
Survived by a son Albert L. “Larry” Notaro (partner Alan Rose) of Santa Monica, Cali.; a daughter Tracey Montgomery of Altoona; two grandchildren: Kayla and Chris Montgomery; a sister-in-law Emma Jean Kuhn of Duncansville; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother Michael Notaro and a sister Leona Lunger.
Louis was a 1948 graduate of Altoona Catholic High School. He was a US Navy veteran, serving two tours during the Korean Conflict. He had worked over 20 years at Uncle Joe’s Woodshed and retired from Duncansville Borough.
Mr. Notaro was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church. He was active with the Country Manor community board and cooked for many events at the Manor. He was avid about keeping records for many of the local sports teams. Louis enjoyed doing Sudoku games, watching old-time TV shows and game shows, and was a Penn State fan.
Friends will be received on Fri., Jan. 24, 2020 from 2-4pm, followed by a combined memorial service at 4pm, in memory of Louis and his wife Doris, at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 1218 4th Ave., Duncansville, Father Brian Saylor, officiant.
