Joseph W. Lear, age 87, a resident of Maybrook Hills Health and Rehabilitation Center, Altoona, formerly of Duncansville, died Friday, Mary 8, 2020, at the home. He was born January 17, 1933 in Hollidaysburg, a son of the late George and Mary (Estep) Lear. He married Marion R. (Claar) Hartman on July 31, 1958 in Leamersville. She preceded him in death on Apr. 18, 2008.
He is survived by 8 children: Donald Hartman of Alaska, Mike Lear of North Carolina, Robert Lear of Duncansville, Barbara Feathers of Altoona, Carol Hartman of Altoona, Roberta Davis of Altoona, Donna Hartman of Altoona, and Vicki Mann of Hollidaysburg; 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Russel Hartman; three brothers: Walter, Glenn and Carl Lear; and a sister, Betty Barr.
Joseph was a 1951 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School and also attended the University of Denver, Colorado. He was a US Air Force veteran, serving from 1951-53 during the Korean Conflict.
He was an avid golfer and was a member of the Park Hills Country Club. He was a member of Leamersville Church of the Brethren.
All services will be held privately by the family.
Interment will take place at Leamersville Riverview Cemetery.
