Elizabeth E (Boyles) Shero

Elizabeth E. (Boyles) Shero, age 71, of Altoona, received her wings from the Lord on Friday, June 19, 2020, after a battle with cancer. She was born May 4, 1949 in Altoona, a daughter of the late William and Jeanne (Reading) Boyles.

Surviving are two children: Susan (husband Bill) Stevens and Stephen Pendergrast; 4 grandchildren; one great-grandson; 4 sisters: Jeanne, Mary, Patty and Yvonne; 4 brothers: Robert, Nelson, Denny and Barry; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Lelia, and a brother, Billy.

She was previously married: first to the late Edward Pendergrast, then to Mike Geist, and lastly to Donald Shero.

Liz was an Altoona High School graduate. She was a teacher at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament Church school for a couple years, worked at Shirley’s Cookies, and then retired as a housekeeper at the Econo Lodge.

She enjoyed knitting afghan blankets, playing BINGO, tanning, and spending time with her family, which was her pride and joy. She was a thoughtful and giving person, always helping others. Liz was the world’s greatest mother that took great care of her children and grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by many, but will never be forgotten.
