Charles E. Kane, age 80, of Dry Run, Duncansville, went home to be with his Lord and Saviour in Heaven on Sunday, May 2, 2021. He was born February 5, 1941 in Altoona, a son of the late George and Alberta (Wagner) Kane. He married the former Dorothy Shoup on Oct. 8, 1960. They celebrated 60 years of marriage in 2020.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; 6 children: Robin Dobrowolsky (Kevin) of Indiana, Pa., Donna Snyder (Dan), Chuck Kane (Becky), Paul Kane and Scott Kane, all of Duncansville, and Melissa Bradford (Yuri) of Roaring Spring; 12 grandchildren: Justin Dobrowolsky (Carleen), Krista Bearer (James), Meghan Hay (Aaron), Ryan Dobrowolsky, Katelynn Salyards (Joe), Cody Snyder (Emily), Jesse Snyder, Tyler Kane, Levi Kane, Jena Kane, Charley Bradford and Nora Bradford; 10 great-grandchildren: Cheyenne Salyards, Liliana Salyards, Ella Snyder, Grayson Snyder, Phoebe Snyder, Cody Bearer, Raven Sheriff (Beau), Colton Hay, Lincoln Hay and Scarlett Hay; and a great-great-granddaughter, Braelynn Sheriff. He is also survived by a sister, Pat Holsinger, and a brother, George Kane.
He was preceded in death by an infant grandson, Thomas Kane, and a sister, Donna Colby.
Charlie started working at the young age of 16 delivering telegraphs for Dean Phipps Store in Altoona then worked for Shonefelt Plumbing and Benson Fuel Oil. In 1981 he purchased and founded Kane’s Trash Removal and Charles Kane & Sons. He enjoyed working with his sons and grandsons and worked daily until his passing. He attended Dry Run Independent Baptist Church.
Friends will be received on Thurs., May 6, 2021 from 4-8pm at Dry Run Independent Baptist Church, 670 Valley Forge Rd., Duncansville, and on Fri., May 7, from 10 until the 11am funeral service, officiated by Pastor John Leatherman, at the church. Interment will take place at Dry Run Cemetery.
