Roderick R. Thompson, age 60, of Altoona, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, November 11, 2019, at UPMC Altoona, after a fall. He was born March 6, 1959 in Altoona, a son of the late Robert J. and Gail F. (Bougher) Thompson.
Survived by three daughters: Carrie Lolas (James), Danyelle Diveglia (Paul) and Sonya Zeigler (Butch); two sons: Roddy Thompson and Wesley Thompson (Devany); 18 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; a brother Craig Thompson (Sharon); two sisters: Angie Ryan (Bill) and Wendy Diehl (George); his girlfriend Rebecca Holland; his second mother Betty Williams; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. He remained close friends to his ex-wife Dorothy and his mother and father-in-law: Charles and Carol Wyerman.
He was preceded in death by two grandchildren: Miracle and Tabitha; a brother-in-law Ken Wyerman; and his second father Walter “Bud” Williams.
Rod was a 1977 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School. He was a veteran of the US Navy for 6 years, stationed in Norfolk, VA aboard USS Kennedy. He was a “jack of all trades” and held numerous jobs.
He enjoyed hunting, being in the woods, and spending time with his children, grandchildren and family.
Friends will be received on Monday, November 18, 2019 from 6 to 8pm, immediately followed by a Memorial Service at 8pm, officiated by Pastor Dennis Braun, all at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 1218 4th Ave., Duncansville.
