Jean E. Detrick, age 90, a resident of Hollidaysburg Veterans Home, formerly of Duncansville, died Wednesday, March 6, 2019, at the veterans home. She was born February 19, 1929 in McKee, daughter of the late Homer G. and Myrtle E. (Miller) Helsel. She married David W. “Bill” Detrick on March 25, 1955 in Winchester, VA. He preceded her in death on Feb. 18, 2005.
Survived by two daughters: Cindy Tate (Richard) and Amy Cole (William), all of Duncansville; four grandchildren: Heather Mickel (Jeff), Melissa Tate, Richard Tate, Jr. (Beth) and Billy Cole (Sheena); 8 great-grandchildren: Hayley, Daniel, Kimberly, Kourtney, Lydia, Nicholas, Matthew and Allie; and two brothers: Sheldon Helsel of East Freedom and Dennis Helsel of Duncansville.
She was preceded in death by siblings: Pauline Dively, Margaret Langham, Betty Ayers, Kenneth Helsel, Lester Helsel, and two infant brothers: Homer and Stanley.
Jean was a Hollidaysburg High School graduate. She was a member of Duncansville Evangelical Lutheran Church. She enjoyed going to activities, talking to other residents and doing crafts at the veterans home. She loved spending time with her family.
Friend will be received from 1-4pm on Sunday, March 10, 2019, immediately followed by a funeral service at 4pm, officiated by Rev. Jaime G. Olson, at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., Duncansville. Interment will take place at Alto-Reste Cemetery.
