Edwin Eash Jr

Edwin "Ed" Eash, Jr., "Pappy Ed", age 84, of Graystone Apartments, Hollidaysburg, died Friday evening, May 25, 2018, at UPMC Altoona, after suffering a severe stroke, surrounded by his loving family. Born May 27, 1933 in Holsopple, a son of the late Edwin and Ada (Thomas) Eash. He was twice married; first to Loledo (Speacht), who preceded him in death in 1988. He then married his wife of 21 years on March 9, 1997, Dorothy L. (Bowser) Eash.

Ed is survived by his wife; two stepchildren: Terry (Thomas) Holtslander and Rick Bowser, all of Duncansville; three step-grandchildren: Mindy (Cullen) Sheehan of Duncansville, Jesse (Alyssa) Holtslander of Vienna, VA, and Nathan (Kristina) Bowser of Philadelphia; three step-great-grandchldren: Carter and Aidan Sheehan and Liliana Holtslander; a sister Betty Blough of Hershey; three brother-in-laws: Gary and Allan Shuss and Glenn Speacht; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by five brothers: Earl, Robert, Vernon, Irvin and Kenny Eash, and a sister Daisy Flory.

Ed graduated in 1952 from Conemaugh High School. He was a US Army veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Fleming Foods after 42 years of service. He then worked part time for Quest Diagnostic. He attended Berean Baptist Church in Duncansville.

Ed's hobbies were many. He enjoyed playing BINGO on Tuesdays with all of his Graystone friends, walking daily, and taking care of his flowers. Above all, he was an avid fan of his #1 great-grandsons, who were his pride and joy. He attended all of Carter and Aidan's baseball, hockey and basketball games when his health permitted.

Friends will be received on Fri., June 1, 2018 at the Berean Baptist Church, 2465 Mill Rd., Duncansville, from 10am until the 11am Memorial service, officiated by Pastor Lynn Johnston. Interment will take place at Alto-Reste Cemetery.
