Doris L. Bristow, age 90, a resident of The Village at Morrisons Cove, formerly of Duncansville, died Wednesday evening, September 19, 2018. Born October 21, 1927 at home in Ducansville, a daughter of the late A. Clair and Mary E. (Yeckley) Baker. She married Theodore C. Bristow on Jan. 27, 1946 at Duncansville Lutheran Church. They were married 66 years and Ted preceded her in death on Nov. 12, 2012.
Survived by three daughters: Linda (Jim) Negley, Carol (Galen) Biddle, and Deborah (Ricci) Blakeley; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren with one on the way; a sister Betty Campbell; and two brothers: Warren Baker and Glenn Baker.
She was preceded in death by two sisters: Audrey Baker and Ruth Baker.
Doris worked as a waitress for 35 years. First at Howard Johnsons for 15 years, then at various other restaurants. She was a lifetime member of the Lutheran Church, where she attended Sunday school and Christian Endeavor, and was a member of the choir and the Christie Gleichert Missionary Society. She was a member of the Chimrock Squares for 35 years and the Holiday Rovers for 30 years.
Doris enjoyed playing Pinochle and spending time with her family at Raystown, where she enjoyed canoeing and swimming.
Friends will be received on Sun., Sept. 23, 2018 from 4-8pm at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., Duncansville, and on Mon., Sept. 24 from 10am until the 11am funeral service, officiated by Rev. Jaime Olson and Vicar Kathleen Stump, at Evangelical Lutheran Church, Duncansville. Interment will take place at Carson Valley Cemetery.
